In coming weeks, I will be joining TrekNomads team along with my friends for a trek trip to Hemkund saheb and Valley of Flowers. The build up of trip is so exciting in itself. The itinerary that we will be following is as follows:

Day Brief Itinerary Detailed Itinerary Highlights of the Day
Day 1 Arrive at Haridwar Arrive at Haridwar and check in to the hotel. Spend the day sight seeing, and witness the magnificent Ganga Arati. Relax and get to know fellow trekkers.
  • Catch a glimpse of the Lakshman Jhula,
  • Have an authentic lunch of Poori and some Lassi 
  • Take a dip in the holy river Ganga
  • Witness the Ganga Arati
Day 2 Travel from Haridwar and arrive at Auli Leave from Haridwar early in the morning and Travel via the Holy Confluences of River Ganga and enjoy the road trip through some of the most gorgeous views in the country. Reach Auli late in the evening and check in to the hotel, have some nice dinner and unwind. Witness the 4 of the five Panch Prayag’s as we travel to Auli:

  • Devprayag
  • Rudraprayag
  • Karnaprayag
  • Nandaprayag

 

Day 3 Trek to Gorsan Bugyal Wake up early in the morning, freshen up and have a good hearty breakfast and get ready for our acclimatisation trek to the very beautiful Gorsan Bugyal. Get a glimpse of the gorgeous breakfast point by the cliff, 
  • Enjoy a Cable Car Ride
  • Catch a glimpse of Auli’s very famous breakfast point by the cliff
  • You will also be be able to the very mysterious Nanda Devi mountain from here along with Hathi Ghoda Parvat
  • Indulge in some wonderful photography with the gorgeous sights on the way to Gorsan Bugyal
Day 4 Travel to Govindghat and trek to Ghanghariya and jeep to Pulna Start your journey towards Govindghat via Joshimath in the morning and then start your trek to Ghangariya. Check into a hotel in Ghangariya that night and stay the night there.
Day 5 Trek to Hemkund Sahib Start your high-altitude trek to Hemkund Sahib. Reach Hemkund Sahib and absorb the piousness of the place and explore the beautiful alpine lake. Get back to Ghangariya and have some hot dinner, take some much-needed rest.
  • Trek to the World’s highest Gurudwara perched at an altitude of 4,600m
  • Walk around to the other side of the Hemkund Lake. Take in the aura of peace and serenity and get awe-struck by it’s crystal clear, undisturbed reflection of the mountains surrounding it.
  • Have some hot Khichidi and tea at the langar
  • You can also find the Brahma Kamal flower here in abundance that only grows at the heights of 10,000 ft to 15,000 ft. 
Day 6 Trek to VOF Day 1  Wake up early in the morning and explore UNESCO’s World Heritage site, the Valley of Flowers. Have packed lunch in the Valley and start your trek back to the base by afternoon.
  • Trek along the well-laid trail with sights of the tall, rocky Himalayan mountains. 
  • Get a glimpse of some the rarest flowers in the world that only bloom between July-October in the Valley of Flowers
Day 7 Trek to VOF Day 2 (Optional) Head out on a trek to explore the deeper parts of the Valley of Flowers get back to Ghangariya by early evening and unwind at the hotel.
If you wish to stay back and relax at the hotel, you can explore the places nearby in Ghangariya.
Day 8 Trek to Govindghat and visit Badrinath and Manna Start early and trek back to Govindghat after which we will travel further north towards the Indo-Tibet border to explore Badrinath and India’s last village Mana. Stay that night at Joshimath and relax, get to know each other and introspect on how the trek helped you.
  • Travel to one of the four dominant Charm Dham pilgrimage sites in India, Badrinath – A temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
  • Also travel to Uttarakhand’s tourism village, Mana which is also the last Indian Village and explore: 
  • Vyas Gufa – Where Veda Vyas resided while composing the four Vedas
  • Ganesha Gufa – Where Lord Ganesha wrote down the Mahabharatha as Veda Vyas dictated it.
  • Bheem Pul – A rock formed as a bridge across River Saraswati
  • Keshav Prayag – Where the tumultous River Saraswati joins the River Alaknanda
  • Tea at India’s last Tea Stall
Day 9 Travel from Joshimath to Dehradun Travel back to Dehradun from Joshimath arrive by 7 or 8 pm.
Day 10 Depart from Dehradun Depart from Dehradun and reach back to Bangalore.
